Construction of your home is a process that needs careful attention at all instances. It is not only important the design fits your purpose but it should also be in par with the climate of physical features of the region you wish to live in.

When we discuss types of construction based on geographies we observe that a majority of this is related to complimenting the land or feature type along with the weather or to be precise the climatic conditions of the region. The construction made needs to be able to take the positives to its advantage and counter the negative aspects of a geographical as well as climatic features in order to be a long lasting sustainable piece of work.

A brief discussion on the various construction types that fall under varying geographies of the country is discussed here. Different types of houses and types of roofs for houses are observed in varying regions.

Regions of the country such as North-eastern states that face highest rain fall usually have slanting roofs in order to eliminate accumulation of water on them. They are also constructed with higher elevation compared to construction types or trends at various other locations of the country because this will help during floods and the extreme monsoons. The elevation can be created using concrete blocks and big stones whereas in rural region it is done with bamboo r tree trunks. Stilt houses as they are called are commonly seen near flood prone area or location near a water body. This is present in areas such as West Bengal.

Regions that face extreme cold temperatures prefer construction material wood over normal concrete houses as this helps in natural insulation. Also, given the areas such as near the Himalayas lie in a hilly region, wooden houses are chosen for this type of land graphic across the country as this will help during land slides or earthquakes. Cold temperature areas also use smaller overhangs to bring home more sunshine. Steep roofs are common in places facing snow fall. Windows are smaller and preferably can shut to seal well to keep the warmth within the home.

Parts of the country falling close to the tropic circle faces extreme heat. To counter the slightly higher temperature walls of concrete are used and are usually made thick in order to keep the heat out. Overhangs are usually used in this regions to get shade as well as to protect from rain such as in the southern states of India. Big windows and higher sealing are also for construction in this areas as this will help the hot air rise above.
