“We weren’t looking for a standard or a cookie-cutter house design. We wanted to build something that could reflect our personal taste, lifestyle, and family values.”
A House that Reflects Personal Vision & Ideas

Ajay, a Chennai resident working as a VP of finance in a Chennai-based tech company, lives with his small family in his cozy home alongside his beloved wife, Rajasri, a dedicated homemaker, and their bright grade 4 daughter, Nithilashri, whose curiosity fills the house with energy and joy.
Ajay & family wanted to build a house that felt personal & made every space intentional. They were looking for a construction partner who could allow them the freedom of translating their vision & ideas into real spaces, making the house feel ‘theirs’ in every corner.
That’s when they came across Brick and Bolt and decided to trust them with their project.
Expectation of a Unique Vibe for Every Space
For them, it was never about building a house with just rooms with fixed functions. They always envisioned it as a collection of experiences, where every space could carry its own mood, personality, and emotional value. Their expectation was that each part of the home should feel like it carries a distinct vibe the moment you step into it, while still feeling connected to the whole house.
The team of expert architects & designers at Brick and Bolt understood the assignment.
Dining Area
Surprisingly, the dining area was one of the first spaces where this vision took shape. Ajay & family wanted their dining area to reflect a vintage vibe with something warm, timeless, and inviting. From the clock on the wall to the lighting, seating, and the overall setting, architects made sure that every detail was planned to come together to create a nostalgic vibe and atmosphere.
Thus, it wasn’t just about the dining area; it was about creating a space where conversations linger and memories could be made.
Open-to-Sky Area
Ajay and his family’s favorite part of the house- the open-to-sky (OTS) area, was envisioned & designed for its calm, grounding space within the home. They wanted this area to bring in a sense of balance and tranquility, with a strong connection to the 5 forces of nature. Incorporating the 5 elements of nature here was important to them, as they wanted this space to feel peaceful and spiritually aligned making it a place to pause, reflect, and unwind.
Puja Room
For the puja room, Ajay’s wife wanted this space to have the highest level of attention. She didn’t want a generic or standard design that every household has. This meant that every frame, proportion, and detail had to be thoughtfully planned. The project manager spent time with them, discussing even the smallest aspects, because this space held deep emotional and spiritual significance for their family.
Overall, their expectation was clear: they needed the flexibility to create unique designs and themes for every space in their house, along with a strong focus on aesthetics. The team of architects and designers not only took care of the structural quality but also about the designs that could make the home feel intentional, personal, and emotionally fulfilling in every corner.
Ensuring Safety While Maintaining the Aesthetics: Balcony

When it came to designing & creating the area, like the balcony that is used daily and accessible to their daughter as well, they were very clear from the beginning that they didn’t want safety features to feel harsh, traditional, or purely functional but aesthetic enough. They envisioned a balance where the space felt secure yet visually appealing and consistent with the overall home’s design language.
Thus, the balcony design involved multiple layers of thought, making sure the first and most important priority was child safety. Ajay wanted this space to be used freely without constant worry. This meant incorporating features that would genuinely prevent risk, rather than just meet basic requirements.
Taller railings
Taller railings were a key part of this, designed specifically to avoid any chance of accidental climbing or leaning. At the same time, making sure the railings looked refined and proportional, not bulky or intrusive.
Sliding grill door
Another important expectation that Ajay had was the inclusion of a sliding grill door. This added an extra layer of safety without blocking light or airflow while also maintaining the overall space aesthetics.
“We didn’t want the balcony to feel closed off or caged.”
Keeping this in mind, the grill on the balcony was designed to blend seamlessly into the space when not in use. The handrails were also carefully planned to be secure, solid, and set at a comfortable height for child safety.
Beyond safety hardware, aesthetics played an equally important role. Ajay wanted the balcony to feel like an extension of the living space, not an afterthought. Elements such as wooden flooring, contemporary lighting, and a French door were intentionally incorporated to soften the functional aspects of the safety features, while each material and finish was chosen to ensure that the space retained a premium, elegant look.
Choosing Brick & Bolt was the Right Choice
Long before planning this home, Ajay & family dreamt of building with a construction partner who could give them absolute visibility & transparency from planning to execution without being present on the site every single day.
Now, when they look back at this entire journey after their 4BHK, 2520 sq ft home came alive, choosing Brick and Bolt felt like the most right choice. They always wanted clarity on how the work was progressing, what stage the construction was in, and what would come next. The ability to track progress remotely through the Brick and Bolt app and receive regular updates reduced stress and uncertainty.
Collaborative & personalised Approach
A collaborative approach was equally important to them. They wanted someone with whom they could sit, discuss, & plan their vision.
They had their ideas, but they also wanted professional input that could refine and enhance them. The process involved multiple iterations, open discussions, and the patience to arrive at a plan that truly worked—both functionally and aesthetically.
Budget-Friendly packages
While building a home, budget is always a critical factor. From the beginning, they wanted their design aspirations to remain realistic and financially viable. Having a clear plan that fit within their defined budget, with no unexpected deviations between design and execution, gave them peace of mind. With the ESCROW-based payment model, they had an ease of making stage-wise payments based on work completion.
Together, these factors made them confident that choosing Brick & Bolt was the right decision for building our home.
